Psychosocial Nursing Mental Health Services -Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Examine About The Psychosocial Nursing Mental Health Services? Answer: Presentation Psychotherapy is a different field of distinguishing and dissecting mental conditions. In light of the speculations there are various sorts of treatments that are utilized by experts everywhere throughout the world. Be that as it may, the specialists with a particular intention and result have utilized these various treatments to determine their customers singular issues. This paper for the most part centers around two unique psychotherapies to be specific Existential and individual Centered treatment by featuring and differentiating their key ideas and properties. This paper fundamentally decides to concentrate on three key regions where these two treatments contrast from one another. The principle reason for this report is to help comprehend the likenesses and contrasts between three key regions of these two psychotherapies as referenced. Key ideas and Attributes Existentialism can be characterized as the philosophical methodology, which essentially impacts the training embraced by an advisor's methodology instead of concentrating on their minor remedial model, or an alternate restorative methodology (Van Deurzen Adams, 2016). This sort of treatment predominantly decides to concentrate on the methodology of inferring on the way that people are freed to decide their own lives. The existential hypothesis for the most part surrenders the impact of the comparable oblivious mandates that are essentially centered around the psychodynamic speculations (Cooper, 2015). Be that as it may, it keeps a conviction over the possibility that the individuals are available to elective choices as opposed to concentrating more on Freud's progressively deterministic view. Schneider (2015) further includes that the Existential speculations trust in the way that individuals are skilled to settle on sound and cognizant decision than being unimportant survivors of ob livious molding. Then again, it can Person-focused treatment is the has been created via Carl Rogers and has conformed to a significant number of the convictions simply like that of the Existential treatment yet on a further note, it underlines on the capacity of the customer to self-mend inside the inclusion of the advisor and guiding methodology. It very well may be explained that the Carl Rogers put stock in the way that the individuals need to inspired and coordinated towards the unequivocal objective, not at all like the hypotheses of the Existential treatment that trusts in the way that the individuals have the characteristic ability of guiding themselves towards the characterized objective. This can be accomplished with no help from the outer source (Mearns, Thorne McLeod, 2013). Existential treatment mostly expects to show the customers to uncover onto life and accumulate mindfulness about the different perspectives that are accessible with a reason to make an important and intentional reality (Berne, 2016). Capuzzi Stauffer (2016) has faith in the way that individuals look for significance, reason, for endeavoring towards continuous individual change withy this sort of therapy. With differentiate, it very well may be said that in the event of existential hypothesis, the mental showdowns or aggravations occur when a person from inside, while Roger's individual focused hypothesis puts stock in preventiveness and disarranged conditions that primarily deludes individuals from their characteristic way towards satisfaction. With likeness like that of Existential hypothesis, it very well may be included that the Person-focused hypothesis additionally thinks about that people can self-direct themselves, even without the assistance of a psychotherapist in making fund amental changes for taking care of their extraordinary issues (Van Deurzen, 2015). Authentic Development The central impact of the existential hypothesis has been found under the idea of human anxiety as the key inspiration that has been answerable for the impact in the human conduct just as the battle in the situational conditions, with a conviction of existing on the planet without possessing any changeless spot in it. Logicians Victor Frankl and Rollo May have discovered this hypothesis in the middle of the 1800 1900s (Sharf, 2015). In the current existentialism, Viktor Frankl and Rollo May were key figures in the early advancement of this movement.Frankl was a previous disciple of Sigmund Freud and Adler however ended up being more impacted by before existential scripts.Rollo May was additionally inclined by both Freud and Adler also yet saw existentialist hypotheses as more compelling. On the opposite, Rogers accepted that his customer fixated treatment should concentrate on the profound, natural individual mental encounters of the clients. This treatment accentuates on the warm, con cerned, accommodating demeanor of the specialist, which was the components that energized and supported the realization of the human possibilities (Rogers, 2013). On one hand, the existentialists accepted the way that people are constrained to self-completion, which intends to investigate a superior significance and reason in life.Johnson (2013) accepts that the existentialists were anxious about the people authenticity and how they adapt to their reality, alongside what they do to give their world, some important reason. Be that as it may, then again, Rogers steadily accepted that the behaviorist and psychoanalytic treatments don't continue the customer's potential for accomplishing self-completion (Prochaska Norcross, 2018).His speculations of customer focused treatment became out of disturbance over the behaviorist and psychoanalytic ideas and on the procedure; he theorized that the customers had an inborn information in fathoming issues for which they looked for in the wake of advising and treatments (Fromm-Reichmann, 2015). All the while, he began to grasp that he increased better outcomes by basically focusing than his customers by letti ng them talk in a controlled domain. Job of the advisors In view of the complexity and examination, in the individual focused treatment, the advisor encourages in the making of a great air that is appropriate for the characteristic mental development and coordinates towards a person's ability towards the accomplishment of self-realization (Tolan Cameron, 2016).However, in existential treatment, the specialists are chiefly worried about thought of the emotional universe of the customers, thus helping them to come to another end result. This, thus, causes the customers to perceive the responsibility of their lives, along these lines permitting them to move themselves from a passionate anguish, close to the delight of perceiving their latent capacity (Encinares Golea, 2016). In both the treatments, the advisor goes about as a mirror to mirror a few deliberate imperatives and restrictions by keeping the customer from extra heightening. On a further note, it very well may be included thatRogers was careful in the support of consistency in the a pplication and therefore, it bore dependable outcomes (Cornelius-White, Motschnig-Pitrik Lux, 2013). In any case, Rollo May has ignored the significant parts of human characteristics and was every now and again conflicting and befuddled in his explanation with respect to the speculations of existential treatment. End With the assistance of this paper, it very well may be presumed that both the treatments have been useful in helping the customers to facilitate their nervousness and build up another point of view towards life. In any case, it can likewise be included that despite the fact that there are a few likenesses in both the treatments, there are additionally a few contrasts in the key ideas driving the treatments. On a further note, it can likewise be included that the existential hypothesis is profoundly compelling regarding multicultural treatment because of its utilization of normality and inescapability in the human issues. It can likewise be seen that the existential brain science keeps on remaining dispossessed and scrutinized by the psychoanalytic network because of its inclination and practice. References Berne, E. Doctors are known to sometimes discriminate against patients who use substances, those who have a history of substance use, or people who have other addictions. This discrimination can show up in several different ways. Getting access to a doctor can be difficult. Many people who use substances find that they have to apply to doctors offices to become a patient, and then never hear back from them. Others are able to see the doctor, but they find that if they disclose their substance use history, they are unable to obtain prescriptions for medications they need, or they are refused necessary treatment, even for conditions which seem unrelated to their substance use, unless they commit to getting clean and sober first. Even when you are able to see a doctor, and they provide you with treatment, visiting your doctor can sometimes be an upsetting  and even traumatic experience. The doctor might ask about why you began using substancesâ€"a much longer story than you could fit into 10 minutes, and perhaps one you dont want to tell. You might feel pressured by your doctor to discontinue substance use, as this is often something your healthcare provider will be concerned about. They may ask whether you are thinking of using again, once you have become abstinent. For some people with a history of substance use, this can be enough to put them off visiting their doctor at all. Why Do Doctors Discriminate Against Addicted Patients? Discrimination against patients has been taking place within healthcare for decades. The more time and effort a patient requires, the more likely he or she will experience discrimination. The more that the doctor will be asked to do something that he or she may not feel comfortable doing, the more likely the patient will be discriminated against. This is not an excuse, and it is not a suggestion that these practices are OK. If you better understand your physicians point of view, perhaps you can better understand how to get what you need. The way the current health care system is set up, there are many instances where doctors and healthcare service providers do not get paid for spending more time with you. They get paid the same amount of money whether they spend five minutes with you or an hour with you. No matter whether you have public or private insurance, each year providers negotiate how much they will be paid for each type of service they provide. And historically over the past several years, that amount of payment has gone down. Look at it this way: In your job, you continue to do the work you are supposed to do. You continue to work all the hours you are supposed to work, yet your boss decides to pay you less this year than you were paid last year, which was less than the year before, and so on. Is this right or fair? No. But its reality for doctors. If you are self-employed, you know you also have to pay rent, pay your staff (including health insurance), pay for all the materials used to provide the services you offerâ€"but you are being paid less than you were paid before. This is what doctors face. The solution? You still need the income you were getting before, possibly more as costs usually goes up, so the only way to make up the difference is to see more patients in the day. To see more patients, you have less time with each patient. If you have less time, then you need some way to screen which patients will take too much time. This is why it is so difficult for patients who have any sort of difficulties with their medical care to see a doctor. Ironically, those in good health have easier access to healthcare. While neither right nor fair, thats how our American system of healthcare works, and to some extent, how healthcare works in other countries as well. You might think that this does not matterâ€"maybe you cant work or dont want to work, and you cant relate to this. Your doctor may seem rich and successful compared to you. But they may have real concerns about whether they can sustain their practice. It costs a lot of time and money to get qualified, to set up and to run a practice, to pay for the building and the staff, and they need to see a lot of patients to make it work.   Discrimination Related to Pain Medications There is also a particular type of discrimination against people needing pain medications, particularly those who seem dependent on painkillers. There are federal and state laws that overrule what a doctor might like to provide versus what is considered legal. A doctor who treats pain patients with drugs can too easily fall into that gray areaâ€"and they could be arrested before anyone asks for explanations. Doctors who over-prescribe, meaning that according to the federal standards, they are prescribing more pain medications than they are supposed to (which does not always makes sense), will lose their licenses. Even if they dont lose their licenses, any sort of interruption in their practice can cause problems, and not just for that doctor and his or her staff, but for all of his or her patients. So, most doctors will just refuse to see patients they do not know who are requesting pain medications, rather than risk everything else. Another reason that doctors discriminate against patients requesting pain medications is out of genuine concern that those medications will be either over-used by the patient, or sold on to someone else, who could potentially be harmed or even killed. Over the past few decades, more and more people have developed addictions and other problems in relation to prescribed pain medication, and there are more people dying of overdoses, from taking too much of these medications than ever before. Difficulties in the Therapeutic Relationship Doctors also have a therapeutic relationship with their patients. For the relationship to be mutually beneficial, and for the doctor to be able to help the patient, there needs to be mutual trust. Many doctors feel unable to help people with addictions, and some have actually been harmed by people with addictions themselves. Although no one should discriminate based on isolated incidents, in some situations, people with addictions have been abusive and even violent toward doctors or their staff. They may lie about the severity of their addiction or other symptoms, making it difficult for the doctor to help them properly. Addicted patients can sometimes resort to manipulative behavior, such as double doctoring, selling medications illegally, lying about their symptoms to get more prescription drugs, and stealing medical supplies and personal belongings of staff and other patients. Although this might not be your behavior, and there may be no circumstances where you would do these things, any time this happens, it reinforces the stereotype that people with addictions or who use substances all do these things. When doctors feel the addicted person does not really want their help quitting but just wants to take advantage of them, taking on patients who use substances can seem like more trouble than it is worth. Until people who use substances are able to change their untrustworthy image, this discrimination is likely to continue. What to Do If You Need to See Your Doctor The key to overcoming the stigma that people who use substances and those with addictions face is to be the exception to the stereotype. Show respect for your doctor and her or his staff. This means taking the time to make sure you are clean and tidy in your appearance, you listen before you speak, and you speak with respect to the staff and physicians. Although you may feel frustrated or even offended by the attitude of the doctor or staff, be careful not to be insulting or even sarcastic when you speak. Substance use can affect peoples self-control, but this is one time when it is really worth making the effort. Remember, you are the expert on your personal experience, but the doctor is the expert on what can help you to get well. If your visit to the doctor is not directly related to your substance use, and he or she does not ask about your substance use history, it may not be necessary to discuss it with him or her. However, often your substance use history is important, so make sure you tell them about this if asked, as well as where you are in your process of thinking about treatment. Many doctors are moving towards non-medication treatments for a variety of conditions, both because of problems people develop as a result of taking medicationsâ€"including side effects as well as addictionsâ€"and because other treatments can be more sustainable and a healthier choice in the longer term. So dont take it personally if your doctor suggests a non-medication approach to managing your condition, and give it a fair try, rather than deciding right away it is not working. If you suffer from chronic pain and you have a history of substance use or addiction, understand that your doctor may need to explore some alternative methods of treatment that dont put you at risk of relapse. Try to keep an open mind, and recognize that chronic pain is difficult, but not impossible to treat without medications. In some cases, going on a set dose of methadone can be a way of managing pain and avoiding relapse to other opioids. In other cases, making behavioral changes and using alternative treatments, such as mindfulness-based stress reduction, can be effective enough to manage. These approaches wont block pain in the same way that drugs do, but they wont cause you harm. No one can avoid pain entirely, and a non-medication approach can make life bearable without addiction.

How to Talk to Your Doctor When You Use Substances

Has Donald Trump Kept His Word - Free Essay Example

In every election, each nominee during his or her campaign lays out their beliefs and makes promises they try to keep while in office. These promises can range from international trade to cleaning up the local park. No matter the significance of the promises the elected official is judged on their effectiveness to implement policies to uphold the promises made and their ability to keep their word. President Donald Trump has made many campaign promises and has followed through with several of the more important issues in his first two years as President. A major promise Donald Trump made during his campaign was to appoint conservative justices to the United States Supreme Court. After the death of Justice Antonin Scalia in 2016, Donald Trump said before being elected President, I promised that, if elected, I would nominate a Justice who would be faithful and loyal to the Constitution. I even went one step further and publicly presented a list of 20 judges from which I would make my selection, and thats exactly what we did (Trump). On April 10, 2017, Justice Neil Gorsuch took the oath of office. President Trump nominated another justice from the list he previously quoted. Shortly after Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement on June 27, 2018, President trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh who took his oath of office October 6, 2018. President Trump kept his word on selecting not one but two well qualified conservative justices to the United States Supreme Court. Now the highest court in the land has a 5-4 conservative favor, this can only help the right agenda as future cases get ruled. In the same way, President Trump made good on his Supreme Court Justice promise he created a private hotline for veterans to voice their complaints not being addressed by their VA as well as get the help they need such as suicide prevention. This is another method President Trump implemented to ensure all US veterans are properly taken care of. According to the Veterans Affairs Department, the hotline has received over 107,600 calls since its launch in June 2017(as of August 2018)(www.va.gov). The amount of veterans calling and being helped is a huge step for Veteran Affairs in America. So far the President has kept his promises on the Supreme Court and Veteran Affairs but has had to compromise on his efforts to cancel global warming payments to the United Nations. For instance, the President wanted to completely stop all and every climate change related spending, starting with pulling out of the Paris climate agreement. As opposed to President Obama who increased funding for climate change related research and programs. President Trump stated in his White House speech on June 1, 2017, the money being spent in such programs, will be sent to the very countries and factories that have taken our jobs(Trump). In short President Trump, did succeed by shutting down US funding for the Global Climate Fund but he didnt not full stop the funding of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which is a United Nation committee. This is still a step toward keeping his promise. Another promise the President made was to limit legal immigration Donald Trump has again reduced the refugee cap to 30,000 the decision in support of the Presidents American First agenda. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Sept. 17 said the reduction in the refugee cap is the Trump administrations commitment to protect the most vulnerable around the world while prioritizing the safety and well being of the American people, as President Trump has directed(Dept. of State, Pompeo). Pompeo continues by stating the country still must vet every person so we do not allow anyone who might do harm to our country. By limiting the number of refugees the government can allow the best of the best as a way to promote future growth for the United States as a whole. As well as limit legal immigration President Trump suspended immigration from terror-prone countries and tried to end the terror group ISIS. As Donald Trump loosened restraints on the American military they have effectively executed more airstrikes on ISIS-controlled areas in the Middle East, crippling what is left of their terrorist infrastructure. The travel ban as many people called it the Muslim Ban due to the large percentage of Muslim people currently living in these countries has been implemented to prevent potentially dangerous immigrants from the Middle East enter the country by immigration visas. Donald Trump said in his Immigration speech, Homeland Security and the Department of Justice to begin a comprehensive review of these cases in order to develop a list of regions and countries from which immigration must be suspended until proven and effective vetting mechanisms can be put in place. I call it extreme vetting right? Extreme vetting. I want extreme. Its going to be so tough, and if somebody comes in thats fine but theyre going to be good. Its extreme(Trump). After the June 5-4 decision the Supreme Court ruled the President acted within his executive authority meaning the travel ban will stay. President Trump kept his promise to suspend immigration from terror-prone counties and has successfully destroyed ISIS strongholds in Iraq and Syria. Furthermore, Donald Trump made many promises regarding the economy and has plans to promote economic growth through the nation through the creation of 25 million jobs in the next 10 years, which most economists say is impossible. It is too early to tell if his policies have and will generate the economic growth the President is sure of. What can be said for certain is more jobs have been created under the Trump administration. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy created between February 2017 and December 2017 more than 1.6 million payroll jobs were created as well as 261,000 jobs in October of 2017. On average for each, the first eight months of 2018 about 200,000 jobs have been created. The President has kept his word on creating domestic jobs for American citizens. Overall President Trump has kept or tried to keep many of his campaign promises. Regardless of your political views or your personal opinion of Donald Trump he has been true to his word and there has been political action taken by his administration to better the lives and interests of the American people. With that being said Donald Trump has kept the promises, which got him, elected and has been an effective President by implementing his policies. Gun Show Laws by State and The Gun Show Loophole

At gun shows, both official firearms retailers and private individuals sell and trade firearms to large numbers of potential buyers and traders. These gun transfers are not regulated by law in most states. This lack of regulation is called the gun show loophole. It is praised by gun rights advocates but denounced by gun control supporters, as the loophole allows persons who would not be able to pass a Brady Act gun buyer background check to illegally obtain firearms. Gun Show Background The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) has estimated that 5,000 gun shows are held annually in the United States. These shows attract tens of thousands of attendees and result in the transfer of thousands of firearms. Between 1968 and 1986, gun dealers were prohibited from selling firearms at gun shows. The Gun Control Act of 1968 barred Federal Firearms License (FFL) holders from making gun show sales by ordering that all sales must take place at the dealer’s place of business. The Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986 reversed that portion of the Gun Control Act. The ATF now estimates that as many as 75% of weapons sold at gun shows are sold by licensed dealers. Gun Show Loophole Issue The â€Å"gun show loophole† refers to the fact that most states do not require background checks for firearms sold or traded at gun shows by private individuals. Federal law requires background checks on guns sold by federally licensed (FFL) dealers only. The federal Gun Control Act of 1968 defined â€Å"private sellers† as anyone who sold fewer than four firearms during any 12-month period. However, the 1986 Firearm Owners Protection Act deleted that restriction and loosely defined private sellers as individuals who do not rely on gun sales as the principal way of obtaining their livelihood. Proponents of unregulated gun show sales say that there is no gun show loophole—gun owners are simply selling or trading guns at the shows as they would at their residences. Federal legislation has attempted to put an end to the so-called loophole by requiring that all gun show transactions take place through FFL dealers. A 2009 bill attracted several co-sponsors in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, but Congress ultimately failed to take up consideration of the legislation. Similar bills in 2011 and 2013 met the same fate. Gun Show Laws by State Several states and the District of Columbia have their own gun show background check requirements. As of 2019, 15 states require background checks at the point of sale for all transfers, including purchases from unlicensed sellers. They are: CaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareIllinoisMarylandNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNevadaOregonPennsylvaniaRhode IslandVermontWashington Background checks are required for handguns only in: MarylandPennsylvania Gun show gun buyers in these states are required to obtain a state-issued permit: ConnecticutDistrict of ColumbiaHawaiiIllinoisIowaMarylandMassachusettsMichiganNebraskaNew JerseyNew YorkNorth CarolinaRhode Island In 29 states, there are currently no laws—federal or state—regulating firearms sales between private individuals at gun shows. However, even in states where background checks of private sales are not required by law, organizations hosting the gun show may require them as a matter of policy. In addition, private sellers are free to have a third-party federally-licensed gun dealer run background checks even though they may not be required by law. Attempts to Close the Loophole Federal Gun show loophole bills were introduced in seven consecutive Congresses from 2001 to 2013 — two in 2001, two in 2004, one in 2005, one in 2007, two in 2009, two in 2011, and one in 2013. None of them passed. In March 2017, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-New York) introduced the Gun Show Loophole Closing Act of 2017 (H.R. 1612) requiring criminal background checks on all firearms transactions occurring at gun shows. As of June 26, 2017, the bill had been referred to the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations. The Bloomberg Investigation In 2009, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, founder of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns group, stirred controversy and stimulated the gun show debate when NYC hired private investigators to target gun shows in the unregulated states of Ohio, Nevada, and Tennessee. According to a report released by Bloomberg’s office, 22 of 33 private sellers sold guns to undercover investigators who informed them that they probably could not pass a background check, while 16 of 17 licensed sellers allowed straw purchases by the undercover investigators. A straw purchase involves an individual who is prohibited from purchasing a firearm recruiting someone else to purchase a gun for him.

Anxiety By Michael Treanor Anxiety Disorder - 915 Words

A well-heard of disorder but one that does not get taken seriously, also known as Anxiety. A lot of people seem to claim to have Anxiety but it is deeper than being fearful or being weak in certain occasions. An anxiety disorder is completely different than feeling anxious and it is always mistaken with that. Anxiety disorders come in different and unpredictable ways as well. Most terrifying part is that anxiety is a real mental illness. It is more complex than what the human eye sees. Described by Michael Treanor, author of the article â€Å"Generalized Anxiety disorder†, anxiety is a disorder that is centrally characterized by excessive, pervasive, and chronic worry. Meaning that a lot of what goes on in the victim’s head is repetitive thinking of potential negative future†¦This disorder could last up to a little of six months or could last up to a lifetime. It all depends on the sevreness of it. What differentness an anxiety disorder from the normal human emoti on ‘anxiety’ is that the disorder can cause distress that interferes with a person’s ability to live a normal life. Also, an anxiety disorder can be crippling unlike the emotion version which can go away in a matter of minutes. Having a mental illness such as anixiety comes with having several of symptoms both emotional and physical symptoms. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, also known as NIMA, states that some of the emotional symptoms range from feeling apprehension, feeling tense, restless and

Organizations Implement Materials Requirement Planning (...

Organizations implement Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) for effective management of operations. The MRP software is available from vendors like SAP, Oracle Apps etc. It is also known as enterprise resource planning which integrates various departments and business process. The modern organizations are enhancing their productivity by adopting MRP though latest software for example Ford motors had integrated its operations function with its suppliers through Oracle Apps. According to Vonderembse White (2013) the managers are using computer technology and using latest software to improve productivity in the organizations. The innovations, research development and competition are major reasons for implementing MRP in operations management. But from the other side the MRP had reduced the importnace of employees in organizations because they are automatically performing major tasks which are earlier performed by manual systems for example a purchase manager used to play a important role but know the ERP systems are performing those tasks. However the productivity of organizations had increased in the present business world with these latest MRP systems. The Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) needs master schedule, bill of materials (BOM), and inventory data to plan for subassemblies and parts (Vonderembse White, 2013). Imagine free essay sample

Imagine John Lennon told you that you were the greatest musician to ever live. Imagine if Martin Luther King Jr. considered you an inspiration to an entire country. Imagine Brett Favre calling you the greatest football player of all time. How would you feel if you found out that your hero considers you to be a hero? The majority of people will never know this feeling. Yet, I have been fortunate enough to experience this extraordinary event. We arrived in the early morning with a truck full of living supplies. It was the summer before seventh grade and the first time I had seen a college campus. The university grounds were crawling with students enjoying their first few hours of college life. Many of them were playing pick-up games of football or tossing around a frisbee. This was the last thing I had expected to see at a place where students came to study a particular profession. We will write a custom essay sample on Imagine or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Of course, I could still sense a level of maturity. The idea of college rarely crossed my mind. I breezed through school with straight C’s and didn’t give much effort in any of my classes except for math. In my spare time I would make my own equations or have one of my two older sisters try to stump me with problems they concocted. This is when I first realized how much of an inspiration my eldest sister, Katy, was to me. At the top of her class with remarkable grades, she participated in band, National Honors Society, and several other clubs. Katy was my hero. I had been dragging furniture and boxes up flights of stairs into a dorm room for hours and we were finally done. We loaded up the truck and started saying our goodbyes. Most brothers would be delighted to get rid of their older sisters, but I was miserable. Who was going to give me ridiculous nick-names? Who was going to yell at me for hogging the bathroom in the morning? Who was going to stump me with imaginary math problems? When we returned home, I instantly hopped on the computer because like most teens, I wanted to check my Myspace. I stumbled upon Katy’s profile and to my surprise, listed under her â€Å"heroes† section she had written, â€Å"My little brother Beau. He is smart and has a great taste in music. He is an inspiration to me, and definitely my hero.† I had never felt so motivated in my entire life. Not only did I not want to disappoint Katy, but I also didn’t want to disappoint myself. John Lennon and Martin Luther King Jr. are long-gone. And I have never met Brett Favre. But I have lived the majority of my life with someone who has impacted me as a person and as a scholar. I consider this person to be my hero. Unfortunately, I did not realize this until she had moved on in her life.

College Life free essay sample

About 3.6 million students are expected to graduate from high school in fall 2017. But the real question is how many of those students will go to college? College is a choice that every highschooler has the power to make. If a student decides to go than there are several goals he or she could achieve while there. First, there are associates degrees, the average amount of time it takes to earn a degree is two years. The second degree is a bachelor’s degree, and it takes four years to earn. Degrees can help land a great job right after college. College is the best way to secure a promising future because college education always benefits later in life,is a way to expand on personal interests and goals, and degrees offer employment that’s more stable. First, college offers education that can always benefit later in life. According to Jean Dake, director of the University of Tennessee says, â€Å"People think,’ Oh, if I major in psychology, I have to be a psychologist’ she says ‘Well,no. Maybe you can do sales’ †(Phillips). After all just because a student receives and earns a degree doesn’t mean that they necessarily have to use the degree to get a job. Most people may even get degrees just to have them under their belt. For example the TeachThought Staff stateâ€Å" College Board’s Education Pays report, workers who hold a bachelor’s degree are likely to be â€Å"very satisfied† with their work — 9 percent more satisfied than those with less education†(Staff). Furthermore more education is always better than less education. There isn’t anything that can be learned that will hurt. For instance a lot of people have jobs that mainly entail manual labor. But what happens if these people got hurt? Not all manual laborers have something to fall back on. But some have a degree that can help. Moreover college education can help in situations that someone is hurt and can no longer do a job. Not every moment in c ollege is going towards a specific life goal, but the time you do spend is not in vain towards other situations you might have later in life. Second, college is a way to expand on personal interests and goals. Consider what U.S. News World Report says, not every college student goes to college for education some go for personal gain or interest. â€Å"There are roughly 138,000 athletic scholarships available for Division I and Division II sports†(OShaughnessy). Sports such as football or basketball offer just as much money or more to play in college. But not all students do sports for money, most do the activity because they enjoy doing it. College offers opportunities for young athletes to let their talents show. Suppose that a student has a theatre scholarship. They could still use the money to pursue any degree. Theatre is another activity for students to explore. Not only can it be a great experience but it can also improve social skills that are beneficial in many professional fields. Thomas Rutherford a musician in Las Angeles states, â€Å"They’ll be your mentors, advisors, and friends. If youâ€⠄¢re willing to put in the time, there is nothing that compares to a good university for building your network†¦.Music is an industry of connections. Those with a strong network receive opportunities before anyone else. Those with no network get the scraps. A good music school can be the perfect shortcut to a strong network†(Rutherford). Some people don’t consider the connections they can make in college. The friends that could come from all over the world. Connections that could one day help. College is mostly seen as a way to increase education after high school. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Many people go to college to explore hobbies and interests further than they could in high school. Finally, college degrees offer employment thats more stable. First according to The U.S. News, â€Å"in 2010, the employment rate was 9.2 percent for those with only some college and more than 10 percent of those with just a highschool degree, but it was 5.4 perce nt for college graduates†(Rotherham). An employment rate might seem non-concerning in high school. But once a student is out of highschool employment all of a sudden becomes important.â€Å"the median weekly earnings for someone with some college but no degree where $712, compared to $1038 for a college graduate. That’s almost $17,000 over the course of a year†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Rotherham). Going to college opens up new doors. Including more money. To conclude there are common jobs that people may not realise require a bachelor degrees such as a sales manager. Most employers for sale managers look for a bachelors degree in business administration. This degree shows how the student understands general business work. Their average pay is $51,760 (median starting salary) $101,640 (median mid-career salary) (Akers). To compare, look at a waitresses salary. A job waiting tables requires no degree. average hourly wage of $11.07, or about $23,020 for the year. Most people realise that a better job equals better money. But not many realise what kind of jobs require degrees. And how much more money a job with a degree can get. Not all jobs require a degree, that is true. But jobs that are common and offer a better salary often ask for a bachelors degree. Some may say that there are several jobs that earn more money than jobs with degrees. But even if that is the case, it is always better to be safe rather than sorry. A degree to fall back on in an emergency is better than nothing at all. Others may say college requires too much money. But money is something that can be earned back. Getting a proper job with a degree can help offset loans and debts. Finally some may say college is not for everyone. But there are many options at college that don’t require typical classroom curriculum, such as art, athletics, or music. In conlcusion, promising futures can be secured by going to college. Not everyone is fit for college life. But college is beneficial for troubles later in life, personal interests and goals, and offers stable employment.

What Skills Do I Need to Write an Essay?

What Skills Do I Need to Write an Essay? Many students ask the question, 'What skills do I need to write an essay?' They generally do not know how to begin their research. Even if they do know the basic steps, they often ask questions about how to write an essay, where to start, how to determine the theme of the essay, how to outline a part of the essay. What they do not realize is that writing an essay is a lot like writing a story. The important thing to remember is that if you are going to write a story, you will want to prepare the first paragraph of your story before you start writing. For example, the topic of the essay could be about a particular time period or a major event that occurred during that time period. With writing an essay, the theme of the essay will serve as the driver for the rest of the writing. In other words, if you were writing a family hist ory, the main idea for your essay might be about a big family reunion. The theme might be about how one member is trying to set things right and another is trying to put everything back to normal. The main idea for your essay is centered around a specific person or theme. To make sure that you are driving the story in your essay, think about some events or topics that are related to the topic you are writing about. For example, if you were writing about the West Coast Jazz Scene, write about the locations and people that influenced it, and how that event has impacted your life. There should be separate sections for the background of the writer and the topic. Make sure that you include where the writing took place and the names of some famous musicians that you know, or who may have influenced you. Some writing skills will require that you use some common adjectives that describe events that you will go into detail about such as 'an epidemic'an economic depression'.While you are writin g your essay, you will also want to include the theme of the essay. It might be about nationalism or it might be about living in America or anywhere else. These ideas can guide you as you are writing your essay, and once you have them down, you will be able to start writing about the details about those ideas. After you have written the essay, it will probably end up being quite long because you will want to make sure that it gives an overview of the topic, as well as several ideas that are related to the topic that are to be discussed in your essay. If you are new to writing essays, you will find that what skills do I need to write an essay?
